Text: Mrs. J. Norman Utz Obituary July 7, 1979 Littlestown - Mrs. Vergie A. Utz, 77, of Kingsdale, Littlestown RD 1, died Saturday at 12:55 PM at Hanover General Hospital, where she was admitted Friday. She was the wife of the Rev. J. Norman Utz. She was a daughter of the late William and Rebecca Pitzer Bowers. Mrs. Utz was a member of Piney Creek Brethren Church, Teeter Road, Taneytown, MD, and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Mrs. John S. E. Mort, Littlestown RD 2; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ada Schildt, Spring Grove. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 AM at Littles's Funeral Home with her pastor, the Rev. John A. Harpold, officiating. Burial will be in Piney Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening.

J. Norman Utz Kingsdale J. Norman Utz, 94, formerly of Kingsdale, died early this morning, Sep 15, 1997, at Shepherd's Choice Nursing Center, Gettysburg. He was the husband of Virgie (Bowers) Utz who died in 1979. Born March 29, 1903, in New Market, MD, he ws the son of the late Silas K. and Ida Utz. He attended Elizabethtown College. For many years, he was a painting contractor in the Hanover and Reisterstown areas. In 1973 he was ordained in the ministry of The Church of the Brethren and preached in many of the congregations in the Mid-Atlantic District. He was a member of Piney Creek Church of the Brethren in Taneytown, MD, and the WIlling Workers Class of the church. He wrote and published the history of the Piney Creek Church of the Brethren. Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Utz Mort of Littlestown; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Teeter of Lutheran Village, Gettysburg, Frances Moyers of Harrisonburg, VA and Miriam Moore of Libertytown, MD. He was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Utz; two grandsons, three brothers and two sisters. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Piney Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. John Layman officiataing. Burial will be in Piney Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, and from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the church.
