Reunion Honors Native of County
A family reunion was held on Sunday at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin B. Hoffman, Roxibury, in honor of John F. Utz, of Estherville, Iowa, who is visiting relatives in the section for the first time since going west 53 years ago.
Mr. Utz, who was born near Frederick, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Utz went west when he was 20 years of age. For many years he has been in business in Iowa. On the first trip east after an absence of over half a century, he sees vast changes.
He remarked that the cemeteries and family names look more familiar than the roads and other landmarks.
Among relatives visited were two sisters and brothers. One sister, Mrs. Margaret Bricker, of Philadelphia, widow of Rev. Jacob A. Bricker, he had not seen since going west. Another sister, Mrs. Mary Miller, Martinsburg, had not seen him since she made a visit to the west 46 years ago. The brother is J. Bryan Utz, of Pikesville, who has been in the railway mail service for forty years. A sister, Mrs. J. O. Butterbaugh, died a few years ago at Paramount.
