Text: The Frederick News May 13, 1997 Mrs. Edith Lease Mrs. Edith B. Lease, 90, of New Market, died Sunday, May 11, at Northampton Manor Nursing Center, Frederick. Her husband, Norman S. Lease, died in 1984. Born Nov. 9, 1906, near Monrovia, she was a Daughter of the late Walter E. and Addie Utz Burall. She was a lifelong member of Bush Creek of the Brethren, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Chancel and Golden Rule Choirs and the Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the New Market Homemaker's Club and a past president of the Frederick County Council of Extension Homemakers. In addition to helping her husband on their farm, she worked at Frederick Memorial Hospital and Linganore High School. Surviving are three children, Betty Thompson and husband, John, Gareth Lease and wife Anna, and Mary Edith Hallock and husband Edward, all of Frederick; nine grandchildren, John Thompson and wife Suzan, Joel Thompson and wife Catherine, Jennifer Cliber and husband Jim, Jan Clark and husband Mark, Karen Lease, Carla Lease, Katrina Anderson and husband Kris, Cthy Lease, and Brad Hallock and wife, Karla; seven great-grandchildren, Angela Hallock, Nathaniel Hallock, Jill Harris, Jacob Thompson, Hannah Thompson, Katey Hallock and Jeb Cliber; and a great-great-grandchild, Keirsten Nicole Dunn. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Hallock, in 1989, a brother, Jesse Burall; and a sister, Mary McGolerick. Friends may call at the Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM Wednesday, May 14. Funeral services will be gin at 11 AM Thursday, May 15, at Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, Monrovia. The Rev. John D. Green pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
