Mr. W. LeRoy "Buzz" Burall, 80, of New Market, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of LaVern Kemp Burall.
Born June 2, 1930, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Jesse Mitchell and Flora May Delauter Burall.
After leaving dairy farming, "Buzz" was a meat inspector with the Maryland Department of Agriculture and the USDA, having worked in the Frederick County area. He was a member of Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and on other church committees. He was a member of New Market Grange 362, Frederick County Pomona Grange and Maryland State Grange, where he served as past master of all three. He also served on the Maryland State Grange Executive Committee. He was past president of Frederick County Chapter Alliance for Mental Illness, a former Boy Scout master, a member of the Frederick County Farm Bureau and a past state officer of FFA.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are four children, Michael L. Burall and wife, Annabelle, of Frederick, Nancy Burger and husband, Rick, of Falling Waters, W.Va., Scott P. Burall and wife, Darlene, of New Market, and David G. Burall of Frederick; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Karen Kemp Docksteader and husband, Gerald, of Chestertown, Robert H. "Rob" Kemp of Salisbury and Anne Kemp of Studio City, Calif.; nine stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Addie Mae Null of Frederick and Joice Bernhard and husband, Fred, of Arcanum, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Jesse E. Burall and William "Bill" Burall, both in 2010.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Friends will also be received from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, Monrovia. Pastor Charles Beekley and Pastor Fred Bernhard, brother-in-law, will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Serving as honorary bearers will be John Thompson, Ken Kinnaman and Walt Stine. Active bearers will be Gregory Lescalleet, Robert "Rob" Kemp, Andy VanRavensberg, Rick Burger, Wayne Burall, Mark Burall, Michael Bernhard and Howard Bernhard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick County Pomona Grange Burall Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Nicole Myers, Pomona Grange Secretary, 77 Cannon Lane, Gettysburg, PA 17325, or Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821 Green Valley Road, Monrovia, MD 21770.
